I'm not so big on the meat, and I'm allergic to shellfish, so that accounts for every single one of my strike-outs, except for sauerkraut.  Hate it.  But notice that I've eaten nearly all of the shellfishies on the list (before I discovered the allergy).  Funny, huh?

KEY:
Bold all the items you've eaten.
Cross out any items that you would never consider eating (or eating again)

Thanks, misreall, for the quiz!

I'm remembering how they took such good care of you at Ben Pao. :-)

I'm curious, Mary: When you ate shellfish previously, do you recall if it made you ill?

(Oh, and I replied to you at the latest Mad Men thread. If you have the time. :-)

No, I just didn't get a reaction until one day I did. :-) Then another one. Got tested...after that I avoided shellfish (pretty much).

That's puzzling to me. It seems that an allergic reaction would always be present in a person's body. But then, I'm not an allergist. :-)

Actually adult on-set allergies (especially food allergies) are pretty common. And the reverse is true. I used to be allergic to apples and strawberries, but have had no problems for about 15 years.
Between Mrreall and myself we are or have been allergic to just about everything.

I didn't know that a shellfish allergy would include calamari.

By the way, as I commented on toms page, we have to do something about this not having eaten pho thing. That is just wrong.

Yeah, I know. Lots of kids grow out of them; lots of adults grow into them.

(My ex-mother-in-law: "I'm allergic to red wine."
Me: "Your symptoms are really consistent with being drunk.")

Yes, you're right, I should be able to eat calamari. See, the doctor freaked me out at the time, saying something like "Well, you're not allergic to shellfish, per se..." Except that it's what gives me the itching and swelling and the not-breathing. So anything...squishy...from the sea, is off the list. Seems prudent.
