Dr. Horrible Soundtrack Hits mary's iPod

The songs are now available on iTunes and I'm so blissed out.   Which are your favorite songs and why?  I'll show you mine...

My favorite is My Eyes, the gorgeous duet between NPH and Felicia Day.  It's not funny, like the others, but it's just so beautiful.  See, this is why Joss is Joss --- he elevates everything.  It's a little internet opera, but that song!  It's as good as anything I've heard in a long time.  The "ping" at the end still gives me goosebumps.

After that, it's hard to choose.

A Man's Gotta Do is SO fantastic.  All three of them singing together at the end!  Also, brilliant writing.

"I wonder what you're captain of."

"I stopped the van.  The remote control was in my hand!"

"The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death.  So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath."

I mean, it manages to be beautiful, funny and communicate character all at once...I'm in awe.

Brand New Day was probably the first one I fell in love with, because come on:  "It's a brand new day and the sun is high, all the birds are signing cause you're gonna die."   *love*

Plus, the rapid-fire verses by NPH!   And, "She will cry but her tears will dry when I hand her the keys to a shiny new Australia."

What I love best about Freeze Ray is how, after the bouncy verse about just...laundry, we get to the point, and at the same time the song adopts a little bit of a groove.  "With my freeze-ray I will stop.  The world."  I like the combo:  nerdy Billy at the laundromat, liking the girl is the verse; Dr. Horrible with his evil scientist mojo is the chorus.

Slipping has an amazing twisty, trippy melody that I just love.

And then So They Say.  My favorite part of that is the fangirls.  "We have a problem with her."  And, of course, "Four sweater vests," maybe my favorite line of the whole piece.  "We do the weird stuff."  Ha!

"Next up:  Who's gay?"

I still need to pick it up, and watch it *again*, for that matter, but I just can't get Freeze Ray out of my head. It's so gentle, and peppy.

I know. I love the opening, just the long shot of him reading the emails and explaining his whole raison d'etre. First time I watched, when it shifted from that into story mode and Freeze Ray started, I just went, "Whoa, this is gonna be good."

They DO stick in your head, don't they?

I love, love, love Freeze Ray for the reason you mentioned. I love the bounciness. It instantly was stuck in my mind.

I would download the album on iTunes but I already downloaded the series when I couldn't get the stupid site to work properly. Its gotten good use. I've watched them more than once and a friend watched them on my phone while we were at the airport.
